A fantastic start to the season!
This weekend I had the pleasure of playing in the first Junior Event of 2023. Twelve juniors, each with an adult partner, played in a 11 hole BB competition on a dry (if not chilly!) Sunday afternoon. The winners on the day were:
1st – Richard & Seb Wells – 28 points
2nd – Pete Barney & Thomas Duff – 27 points on CB
Prizes were given for NP on the 4th and these went to Richard Wells and Thomas Duff.
Thomas also had an Eagle on the 5th after sinking his approach shot in. A prize for this was donated by Molly in the Pro Shop, along with prizes donated by Dave Bartlett for the Junior winners.
The competition was followed by a delicious buffet before we held the Presentation Ceremony, awarding trophies to celebrate the end of last year’s junior achievements.
We have a growing number of players in the section with ages ranging from 8 to 17 but there is always room for more, so if you have family members who are interested in lessons, or even if they are already playing but would like to join in, then you can always mail me on juniors@bramshaw.co.uk or contact molly@bramshaw.co.uk to find out more about a junior membership. Golf as you all know is one of the best and healthiest hobbies you can have and with a junior membership being so reasonable it’s worth swapping the Xbox for a set of golf clubs.
I look forward to keeping you up-to-date on our achievements as the season progresses.

Bramshaw Manor & Mini Masters
The Bramshaw Manor and Mini Masters were held on Monday 24th October 2022 with 30 juniors entering. There was strong competition across the field and it was great to see the bright golfing futures that the juniors have ahead of them.
A big thank you to all the members and staff who supported the event and helped on the day, as well as the Greenkeeping Team for working hard to get the course in such good condition.

After competing in the final round of the Hampshire League at Meon we were placed second in the overall competition but luckily had the chance to progress into the knockout stages. This meant the chance to play in the regionals at Stover and Launceston, although a little unconventional and costing us another entry fee, the juniors wanted the chance to progress. We came 2nd at Stover regional but, with a team withdrawing from the Launceston competition, this automatically gave us a bye to the next round.
Our junior section are a credit to Bramshaw, it may be smaller than in past years but their success in various external events this year have been exceptional.
The semi finals were held at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club on Sunday 25/9/22, one of the top 100 courses in the country. With long carry and deep bunkers it was always going to be a challenge for our young team, a team which have already proved themselves capable of working as a strong unit. We came second and only lost by 2 shots to Saunton. This meant that we were to be placed on the reserve list for the televised finals to be held at Macdonald Portal Hotel near Chester on Thursday, 27th October.
Today I received the confirmation email to say Bramshaw were one of the 8 teams competing in the Junior Team Golf England Final. The bad news for us was that I was also told that the National Finals are not being held in Portugal next year due to the uncertainty surrounding travel and flights, however that’s not to say we are not going to battle our way to the top to hopefully be crowned overall winners, even if we have to travel up north to compete.
Continuing the roll of Junior Captain for the upcoming 22/23 season will be Jake Barney, he has been a great asset to myself and the junior section and with such a young squad we feel another year in this role will help everyone grow in experience and confidence ready to appoint a new captain the following year.
